Curse of O'Tinga

O Kenya, my beloved motherland,
why have you forsaken me?
"Africa killed her son",
and so have you

You detached my umbilical cord*
Even before I was born,
and you cast me away with jubileetion*-
to wallow in the abyss of shattered dreams

The amatimoni*of the past have conspired
against my "Coming to Birth"-
I am just but a victim of circumstances,
I plead guilty to sins of my fathers

My brothers have outdone themselves,
We joked and laughed our hearts out in public,
but deep down their hearts they schemed against me

Sons of my mother, indulge me on this one-
What wisdom is there
in burning down our mother's hut?

Yes, we are brothers indeed,
that is why everytime I reach for the plate,
you strike my hand off, so that i don't feed

Sons of Namulolwe*,
We have fought a good fight,
but it is "Not Yet Uhuru"
